And away we go!
Today’s the day, y’all. I’m reading for twenty-four straight hours. *plays Rocky montage music*
I’ll update this post through out the day to let you all know how I’m doing. First, I decided at the last minute to make this about more than just MY love of reading. Anyone who wants to pledge a per hour donation, send me an email (or Facebook message, or Twitter direct message) at megan[at]thewhynottblog[dot]com. All the money I raise will be donated to LitWorld the organization I posted about yesterday, their mission is global literacy for all women and girls. I thank you for your generosity in advance!
Also, Dewey’s has us all posting introductory questionnaires. Here is mine:
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
The USofA! California to be specific. (West Coast is the best coast!)
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I’m really looking forward to finishing Freedom by Jonathan Franzen, mostly to say that I did it.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
HOMEMADE PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I’m a freelance proofreader/copyeditor, and a complete book freak! I love reading and people who read. I also write a bit in my spare time. I have a two-year-old Yorkshire Terrier named Tucker Book, and he is my favorite as well as my unwitting companion for the day!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I’m a newbie! I’m most looking forward to seeing everyone’s posts about how their reading is going/what they’re reading/generally a lot of chatter about books and reading. It’s like Christmas!
Alrighty, folks. Let’s get this thing started.
Start Time 5:20 AM (PST)
Hour One Update I’m reading Cinnamon and Gunpowder by Eli Brown, I know this wasn’t on my list from yesterday BUT I need to finish it so here I am.
I’ve read about 60 pages so far! Needing more caffeine, but still feeling ok.
Hour Four Update Almost halfway done with Cinnamon and Gunpowder, I’m liking it so far! It’s very imaginative and well written. I’ve had a small breakfast and quite a bit of coffee (the homemade pumpkin spice was a raging success!) Now I must break for a bit to get dressed and walk my puppy, he’s been very patient with me so far.
Hour Twelve Update Sorry I haven’t been updating a regularly as I planned, I was trying desperately to finish just one book and the good news is I HAVE! Going to go pick up something smaller now, probably a John Green. Still going strong!
Hour Seventeen Update This survey was supposed to happen mid-event, but I was busy avoiding the Internet in order to finish the book I was working on. So here are my answers now!
1) How are you doing? Sleepy? Are your eyes tired?
SO SLEEPY. But I’m also SO CAFFEINATED. My eyes won’t stay closed, so I think I’m ok.
2) What have you finished reading?
So far, just Cinnamon and Gunpowder, but I’m halfway through Paper Towns by John Green.
3) What is your favorite read so far?
I must say, I’m enjoying Paper Towns more than Cinnamon and Gunpowder. John Green is pretty much my favorite at the moment.
4) What about your favorite snacks?
I accidentally ate the entire package of Cheesecake Middle cookies…accidentally.
5) Have you found any new blogs through the readathon? If so, give them some love!
River City Reading is on my to-read list when this is all over and done with. I’ve enjoyed her posts today, and the look of the blog is so cute! Can’t wait to read more!
